Zaylah and Xavier Adams – Nan’s Freezer, participants of CBDC Eastern
Nan’s Freezer, created by siblings Zaylah and Xavier as a tribute to their grandmother Sonia, brings to life her dream of having an ice cream stand. Inspired by her annual “Build Your Own Ice Cream” parties, they set up shop behind The Milton Inn in George’s Brook-Milton, serving classic hard ice cream, floats, sundaes, banana splits, and old-fashioned treats.
With support from family and friends, they negotiated a trailer deal for “ice cream for life,” transformed a former fry truck with plenty of “elbow grease,” and even built their own picnic tables from logs milled by their grandfather. Along the way, they’ve learned practical skills from using tools to managing finances, turning the business into a hands-on math lesson and teamwork experience. Inside the trailer, photos of Nan are a daily reminder of the woman who inspired it all, keeping her dream alive through hard work, creativity, and plenty of ice cream.
