Fox & Willows – quality is what matters most for this Truro-based health boutique
“Our goal is not just to have another health store,” says Jenny Malloy. “Our goal is to truly work with people and share our knowledge.”
Jenny and Danielle Carrigan run Fox & Willows Health Boutique – a highly curated health store located in the heart of downtown Truro at 49 Inglis Place.
“The key word is curated,” Danielle explains. “We bring in the best! We wouldn’t bring in anything we wouldn’t take ourselves.”
The shelves of Fox & Willows are filled with bath and beauty products, candles, essential oils, castor oil, skincare, hair care and house wares. About 95 per cent of their products are made in Canada, with many crafted right here in Nova Scotia.
Jenny and Danielle go way way back. Friends in high school, they worked at a health store in New Glasgow together years later. When Danielle was on the verge of opening Fox & Willows, she knew exactly who she wanted to work with.
“We share the exact same passions,” Danielle explains. “Jenny is equally passionate and knowledgeable – it’s like Jenny was my double. It just works.”
They opened their doors on December 1st in 2023 – with a little help from CBDC.
“I went to Career Connections,” Danielle remembers. “We went through CBDC to get a start-up loan and they’ve just been so helpful with all the programs and advice they offer. Our advisor is amazing. Not only did we get a start-up loan to open the business, we also got social media and e-commerce training through CBDC NOBL.”
“Jenny and Danielle’s energy and enthusiasm were immediately apparent when NOBL was approached for assistance in opening Fox & Willows,” Mary Fennell, their CBDC Advisor, remembers. “The success of their business reflects their hard work, great customer relations, and desire to continuously improve. It was a pleasure to help them in the start-up and continue to support them in any way we can.”
After opening their doors, the boutique was well received by the community. The Fox & Willows team is proud to offer products that help with digestion issues, sleep, stress and hormones.
Danielle says that “people are waking up to natural alternatives.”
Danielle and Jenny say they love how much they can really help people – customers come back and say “that really worked.”
“They become regulars and then they become your friends,” Danielle says. “It’s a community that keeps coming back. A unique part of what we offer – we do have the knowledge – we can explain the products and offer advice. We understand what people need for certain health issues. It’s not about giving you a product and sending you on your way.”
Since relocating to Inglis Place in March of 2025, Fox & Willows has twice the space of their old shop and big plans for the future.
“We’re going to have more food products and dairy options,” Danielle says. “Gourmet Italian food like pasta, sauces and olive oil. We’re focused on bringing the cleanest foods in.”
Fox & Willows will also be running detox programs, workshops and private consultations out of the store.
“Our brains are just swirling now that we have twice as much room!” Jenny says excitedly.
