The Rural Action Centre (RAC) in Eastern PEI is looking to hire a Client Information Officer (CIO)!
Business owners, future entrepreneurs, employers and community groups can find multiple federal, provincial and nongovernmental agencies under one roof at your local Rural Action Centre (RAC).
Rural Action Centres help keep businesses, service providers and community stakeholders connected so together we can build vibrant and prosperous rural communities in Prince Edward Island.
This is a full-time permanent position starting immediately or as soon as possible. The salary is $35,000 - $40,000 per year depending on the qualifications of the applicant. This position is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Job Overview
Responding to client information needs, inquiries, and challenges, the Client Information Officer is client-focused and provides quality services to create a positive experience for Rural Action Centre clients. As the first point of contact for individuals and community groups seeking information and support to launch or grow a business venture or a community economic development initiative, the Client Information Officer assesses the client’s needs and subsequently refers the client to programs and services available at the RAC that will help the client achieve his or her business goal.
The Client Information Officer represents and promotes the Rural Action Centre within the business community and the region. Additionally, the Client Information Officer collaborates with colleagues in other Rural Action Centres across the province to offer programming to support rural entrepreneurs and contribute to a vibrant rural economy.
Duties
Client Experience
• Responds to client-initiated contacts professionally and efficiently.
• Identifies client’s needs, provides information on appropriate programs and services and refers clients to the appropriate supports or programs.
• Maintains a well-developed knowledge of government programs and services available to support businesses and non-profit groups, particularly those offered by RAC partners. This requires taking responsibility to keep up-to-date on government funding programs.
• Acts with confidence by answering or finding the answers to client enquiries and finding solutions to client challenges.
• Contributes to the public perception of the RAC by extending a professional greeting to welcome clients.
Business Results, Outreach & Communications
• Responsible for tracking and reporting on activities within the RAC including information relative to the number of clients served, business sector, new versus established businesses, non-profits; outreach activities; training and workshops hosted by the RAC; and events hosted in partnership with other stakeholders.
• Builds and maintains excellent working relationships with key stakeholders, partners and all levels of government.
• On behalf of the RAC, attend business mixers and other networking events within the business community and the wider region.
• Working with the executive director, identify, source out and coordinate training and information sessions.
• Maintain client database for communication purposes.
• Actively promote RAC initiatives on social media and the RAC website.
• Work in collaboration with the RAC provincial manager and colleagues to produce RAC Facts – an e-newsletter.
General Office Duties
• Performs reception and referral duties as a RAC employee relating to the activities of the RAC.
• Answers and forwards telephone calls, takes messages, schedules appointments, and performs other clerical duties.
• Coordinates various services such as use of boardrooms, ordering office supplies, maintaining inventory, and maintaining schedule of RAC partners availability and RAC partners office hours.
• Processes incoming and outgoing mail, both manual and electronic; coordinates the flow of information internally and with other departments and organizations.
• Ensures timely opening and closing of facility; arming/disarming alarm system.
• Ensures reception area provides a relaxed and helpful atmosphere by keeping common areas tidy and well maintained.
• Assist other employees with general office duties as required.
• Demonstrates sound judgment in decision-making, and abides appropriately to established guidelines and procedures.
Teamwork & Referrals
• Organizes and participates in regular RAC partners/stakeholders information meetings Effectively refers clients to the proper departments while ensuring the goals of the RAC’s are consistently met and/or exceeded.
• Contributes to a positive working environment.
• Other duties as required.
Qualifications
Education
• Completion of secondary school is required.
• Completion of a post-secondary program is an asset.
Experience
• 1-year minimum experience working in an office setting is required.
