The Cowgirl Up Tack Shop
In July 2012, at the age of 30, she officially opened The Cowgirl Up Tack Shop - the only mobile tack shop in Nova Scotia that travels to summer exhibitions, music festivals and events. During the winter months she offers stable parties, the equestrian version of a candle party, and works out of her store front location.
Business is going very well, but getting it all started did not come easily. Luckily Jasmine came across Community Business Development Corporation (CBDC) and its Students in Business program. They helped her secure a $5,000 interest free loan to help purchase her initial inventory and build a piece onto her house for storage. When itcame to financing her truck and trailer, CBDC once again provided the financing.
“I wouldn’t have been able to do this without their help or guidance,” says Jasmine. “ At first it was very overwhelming and they helped make sense of it all. They go above and beyond to make sure you are a success."
Now, only a year later, Jasmine is so busy she’s ready to hire her first employee and party reps to handle the requests she receives from as far away as Cape Breton, Saint John and Alberta.
Jasmine is excited for the next part of the adventure and knows that it will eventually lead her to own equestrian centre.
