Community Business Development Corporations (CBDCs) to Celebrate 11th Annual CBDC Day on May 14th, 2014
Mulgrave, Nova Scotia – May 14th, 2014 marks the 11th Annual CBDC Day. CBDC day is an opportunity for the CBDCs of Atlantic Canada to profile clients, volunteers and generate awareness of the many programs and services that CBDCs offer to rural-based entrepreneurs.
“The CBDCs are instrumental in stimulating and supporting entrepreneurship development in rural communities and CBDC Day is another way our corporations showcase the many programs and services we offer to assist rural Atlantic Canadian entrepreneurs,” said Atlantic Association President Patrice Finnigan. “During the past fiscal year, CBDCs in Atlantic Canada assisted more than 1,200 small-and medium-sized businesses throughout our region, injecting more than $60 million into the Atlantic Canadian economy.”
President Finnigan adds: “This past year has seen confirmation of the value of a community-based approach to economic development in rural Atlantic Canada. This is especially true with the continued strong support of our partners, who so clearly comprehend the importance of nurturing the growth and development of small and medium sized businesses in all parts of our region.”
The CBDCs are non-profit corporations with a mandate to foster community-based business economic development by providing support and loans to small-and-medium sizes business enterprises in 41 regions throughout Atlantic Canada.
