Business Assistance, Loans and Financing Help in Labrador
Offering business loans, financing and assistance to qualified applicants, CBDC Labrador Inc. provides services to the geographical territory of Labrador, including some 30 communities spread over 280,000 square kilometres. We have a diverse culture with significant aboriginal populations including Inuit, Innu and Metis. Our Economy is driven by natural resources with significant Iron Ore deposits in the West, and nickel in the North. We have traditionally had strong ties to Fishing and Forestry in the South, although less so in recent years. Tourism is a growing industry in the entire territory with a UNESCO world heritage site in Red Bay, Torngat Mountains National Park and a recently announced Mealy Mountains National Park. In the Central region, often called the hub of Labrador, we have a strong service industry, including transportation and shipping. The central region is seeing some major growth at present as a result of the construction of a major hydroelectric generating station at Muskrat Falls. We deliver the Programs and Services of the CBDC with the assistance of 3 staff and are governed by a dedicated group of 10 volunteers, representing each of the distinct regions in Labrador.
